Tismeer Spanish Horses
We are a breeding and stud farm of quality dilute color revised PREs located in Cave Creek, Arizona. Our motto is “Quality before Color.”
About us
Our stallions and mares are hand picked by owner Betsy Tismeer {bilingual English/Spanish} during her trips to Spain. Betsy and Jack have been involved in the Andalusian horse breed for 25 years. The stallions are gentlemen, well-behaved, and have a great work ethic. They are kind horses, generally quick learners with good minds and great aptitude for dressage. Our stallions and mares need to have straight movement and natural suspension. More recent thought encourages breeding this type of movement - different from carriage and Calvary horses or the “Horse of Kings with fancy winging movement - as this modern Andalusian is thought to have fewer health and lameness problems. Even ANCEE judges who evaluate horses as “approved as breeding stock” are now looking for these qualities as well as aspects of traditional Spanish conformation.
The farm is adjacent to rugged trails, saguaro cactus studded hills and seasonal streams. Horses are ridden on the trails to acquaint them with a variety of stimuli and get them used to different terrains. Foals are imprinted and taught to lead, tie, stand for the farrier and trailer before weaning.
